Couples Therapy

Relationships can provide us with tremendous happiness, but can also cause anxiety and a feeling of disconnection when we experience problems.

Couples therapy can help people in relationships understand what causes their difficulties, allow them to communicate better with one another and find a way through the issues that get in the way of a positive and healthy partnership.

If the decision to end the relationship is made, couples therapy can help you reach an amicable way through the separation.

Couples seek therapy for various reasons. Some include:

  • Arguments, blaming and bickering
  • Affairs
  • Changes within the relationship dynamics
  • Communication difficulties
  • Cross cultural difficulties
  • Dealing with emotions
  • Differences in parenting styles
  • Family bereavement
  • Family conflicts
  • Fertility problems
  • Financial strains
  • Intimacy issues
  • Moving on from past issues
  • Redundancy, unemployment or retirement
  • Relationship break down, separation or divorce
  • Trust issues

The foundation of couples therapy is that both partners want to attend the sessions and want to work together through their difficulties. Like all therapy, the process can be challenging and it will involve being open and honest about issues or problems. However, this will be in a safe, neutral environment where both partners will be listened to and respected at all times.
